Caring in North Tyneside in 2022 – Themes and Summary Report
As part of the events to mark Carer’s Week, Healthwatch North Tyneside has shared the results of the ‘Caring in North Tyneside in 2022’ survey. 681 carers took time to share their views and experiences of caring in 2022 in a survey conducted with North Tyneside Carers’ Centre on behalf of North Tyneside’s Carers Partnership Board. The study was similar to that carried out in 2021 about carers’ experiences during the pandemic, so we are able to compare the responses and see progress.
Carers’ experiences during the pandemic
In the summer we partnered with North Tyneside Carers’ Centre to ask carers in North Tyneside to tell us about their experiences of caring during the pandemic and the impact it had on their wellbeing. The findings raised concerns with 52% of carers telling us they were providing significantly more care than they were before the pandemic, and 50% of carers identified that they felt more isolated now, compared to before the pandemic.
Carers’ experiences and issues, 2018
From January to April 2017 we went to carers’ groups to talk to carers and hear their experiences of accessing information, advice, support and carers’ wellbeing assessments.
