Healthwatch North Tyneside is working with North Tyneside Council to make sure home care services (domiciliary care) work well for residents.

This work will involve:

• Attending meetings
• Working with the Adult Social Care team at North Tyneside Council
• Using your own experience and knowledge to make services better for everyone
• Developing and testing information and resources for residents

We are looking for people who are interested in home care support to get involved, including those with experience of using home care services.

We want to hear from residents who experience problems with incontinence.

We know this can be difficult to discuss and people are often embarrassed.

People in North Tyneside have told us that dealing with incontinence can have a major impact on their quality of life, self-confidence and ability to get out and about.

We want to bring this condition into the open and find out more about people’s concerns so we can work with local NHS service providers and commissioners, businesses and community organisations to make sure residents have access to trusted information and support when they most need it.

Can you help improve support for carers in North Tyneside?

The Carers’ Partnership Board needs your help to improve the experiences and support for carers.

Initially we are focusing on the following areas carers highlighted as key priorities:

• Improving Information about advice and support for carers
• Approaches to short breaks and respite care for people caring for an adult – with North Tyneside Council’s Adult Social Care team
• Carer’s needs assessment for people caring for an adult – with North Tyneside Council’s Adult Social Care team
• Training for health and care staff in how to support friends and family members providing unpaid care.
