Menopause support
Menopause is not often openly discussed, but recently public conversations have begun with the help of high profile women including Davina McCall and Michelle Obama.
Healthwatch North Tyneside carried out research into the menopause support available in North Tyneside and published our findings in this report. Women told us they would like more information to enable them to make informed choices about treatment, both medical and non-medical, and access to support from women with experience of menopause.
It’s worth talking to a GP if you have menopausal symptoms that are troubling you or if you’re experiencing symptoms of the menopause before 45 years of age. They can usually confirm whether you’re menopausal based on your symptoms, but a blood test to measure your hormone levels may be carried out if you’re under 45.
