From 2015 to 2019 we gathered the views of local people on changes to urgent care services in North Tyneside.
A new Urgent Treatment Service for North Tyneside opened at North Tyneside General Hospital (Rake Lane) on 1 October 2018. The service offers GP-led healthcare 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Urgent care services deal with minor injuries and minor ailments and are separate from A&E, which provides emergency care for life-threatening conditions.
In February 2019 our Healthwatch team asked visitors to the Urgent Treatment Centre for their feedback on the service. We asked how they decided which service to use, if they had seen someone else about their health condition , how often they had used the service and how they got to the Urgent Treatment Centre.
We shared our findings and recommendations with North Tyneside Clinical Commissioning Group.
