You asked why and how the service had changed

NHS
Local Healthwatch across the region were concerned about the level of engagement with patients before new systems were put in place for booking patient transport. We wrote to North Tyneside Clinical Commissioning Group to ask them to tell us how they engaged with local people and informed them about national changes to eligibility criteria.
We asked for information on:
- How many patients have been refused transport on eligibility grounds since implementation of the new criteria
- How many people have contacted PALS after being turned down against the Patient Transport Service (PTS) criteria
- How many people have appealed the PTS eligibility criteria decision and have had their appeal upheld
- What were the monthly ‘did not attend’ rates for out-patient appointments
