Warm Welcome hubs return across North Tyneside

More than 40 Warm Welcome spaces open across North Tyneside this week. These welcoming local sites are designed for the community, there’s no criteria to attend and the support is available to everyone.

Since launching in 2022, more than 43,000 people have visited a warm space in the borough and alongside its libraries and customer first centres, North Tyneside Council has funded 8 schools and 20 voluntary and community sector organisations to open their doors to residents as well.

Along with being a warm, comfortable place to spend time, socialise or study, the spaces offer extra comforts and services such as free hot drinks, access to Wi-Fi and computers, and activities like bingo, crafts, board games, cookery lessons and toddler groups. Some venues will also offer soups and low cost meals.

The latest group of Warm Welcomes will run from November 2023 to April 2024, with £75,000 funding allocated by North Tyneside Council for the scheme. The announcement is part of their ongoing commitment to tackling the cost-of-living crisis, including increasing food support in the borough, funding supermarket vouchers for children on free-school meals and introducing new funding schemes to support residents.
