Phoenix Detached Youth Project launches ‘The Good Practice’ film
October 8, 2020
We are delighted to share this new video from Phoenix Detached Youth Project, which has been produced to help improve the service and accessibility of mental health support in the borough for young people.
‘The Good Practice’, which launches as part of year’s North Tyneside World Mental Health Day events, was commissioned by Healthwatch North Tyneside as part of our wider work on young people’s mental health support -you can read more about this in our Annual Report.
A number of GP’s in North Tyneside had highlighted to CAMHS that they wanted some support around making appointments more beneficial to young people, especially when talking to them about mental health. The Phoenix Detached Youth Project (PDYP) were approached by CAMHS and were keen to get involved – the film was written and produced by young people working with the team and we hope you agree, the results are very impressive.
Becky from PDYP said: “Massive thanks to Caitlain, Isaac and Paige who researched, scripted and produced the film, young people from our Helping Hands groups who shared their experiences (positive and negative) of going to the doctors, Dr Dawn Linford for her contribution and appearance, Helen Heslop, Robin Fry and finally
Healthwatch North Tyneside for funding the film. We hope the film will be beneficial to GP’s but also young people knowing what their rights are. An accompanying leaflet for GP’s and young people is also in the process of being produced… so watch this space.”
