Palliative and end-of-life care drop-in sessions

January 15, 2026

Join us at one of two informal drop-in sessions early next month where we will be discussing palliative and end-of-life care.

Healthwatch North Tyneside, with colleagues across the North East and North Cumbria Healthwatch Network, is supporting the NHS to find out how people feel about discussing death, dying and the care they would want for themselves or their loved ones.

Your views will help to shape the NHS regionwide palliative and end-of-life care strategy.

Palliative care supports people who are living with an illness that cannot be cured. This illness may be cancer but is more likely to be a long-term condition such as serious heart or lung disease where cure is not possible. It focuses on helping someone feel as comfortable as possible in body, mind and spirit, while also supporting their family and carers.

End-of-life care is a form of palliative care given when a person is approaching the final stages of life.

You don’t need experience of palliative and end-of-life care to have your say. You can find out more and complete the survey anonymously online here. If you would like a paper copy of the survey, please call the office on 0191 263 5321.

Alternatively, you can join us for a cup of tea and a chat about this important issue:

Tuesday 3 February, 2pm to 3.30pm at the Oxford Centre, Longbenton

OR

Thursday 5 February 10.30am to 12noon at North Shields Community Hub and Library.

Please email info@hwnt.co.uk or call us on 0191 263 5321 to book a place. If you would prefer to have a chat on a one-to-one basis, just send us an email or give us a call for further details.
