What We Heard reports

In the 12 months between April 2023 and March 2024, we have:

  • Engaged with 2,746 people at 103 community events across the borough.
  • Listened to the service experiences of 2,210 people via phone, email and at events.
  • Received 181 reviews of specific health and care services through our Feedback Centre.
  • Heard 817 people share 2,706 service experiences in our 2023 annual survey.

As well as a summary of our current and future research projects, this report includes key themes and issues local people have told us about:

  • The high quality of care many people had received.
  • Challenges others had faced in accessing care.
  • The importance of accessible, reliable information and choice.
  • The impacts of the cost of living crisis and travel and transport barriers.
  • People feeling pushed into private care.
  • Lower expectations of health and care systems.

We use this information to:

  • Provide direct feedback to individual services, showing what residents and service users have said about them and similar services.
  • Share trends and analysis with key decision makers, including the NHS, social care commissioners and North Tyneside’s Health and Wellbeing Board, to highlight residents’ issues.
  • Highlight possible solutions to problems based on what we have heard from local people.
  • Identify key issues to focus our work on in the following year.
