Our volunteers visited all 34 homes in North Tyneside. We sent our reports to the care homes we visited for their comments and shared the final reports with the care homes, North Tyneside Council and the Care Quality Commission.

Some of our volunteers met to look at the reports to identify common themes and areas of good and poor practice. Healthwatch volunteers and staff met with the Adult Social Care commissioners from North Tyneside Council before producing our overarching report of our findings and recommendations, Living life to the full.

What has changed?

Following our visits in 2015 we worked with Tyne and Wear Care Alliance to introduce an Activity Coordinator Forum and a toolkit for coordinators to share ideas and promote good practice.

Response to our recomendations

We asked North Tyneside Council for a response to our recommendations. Jacqui Old, Director of  Adult Social Care Services suggested some amendments to the report which we accepted and incorporated into the final report.
